Have you ever been so angry all you think of is revenge? As you are steaming and pacing back and forth, all that comes to mind is how you can get back at that person. Some recent activities in my life have caused me to go over the edge. These are things that someone has maliciously done for the sake of doing it. Most of the time, I simply get angry and move on. But, the shenanigans never stop. I began to question myself. What part did I have in this? Did I do something wrong for this person to act this way? What could I have done better? I examined myself, and realized that there were some necessary improvements on my end. However, the outcome would have been the same. I don’t like when I am so angry that my focus isn’t on the right things.
I praise God for the mediator that He had in place during these encounters. “Do not let Satan rob you of your joy! He is here to destroy! Remember the eyes that are watching you! Is this the example you want to show them?” Let me tell you something, God always knows how to get your attention! I am reminded of the verse Ephesians 4:26, “”Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath.” God’s word says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). It is okay to be angry, but the next part, “do not sin”, is where the struggle comes. The ungodly thoughts that run through your head and the words that spew from your tongue is sin. James 3:6 says, “The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell”. Oh my goodness!
Hot tears of anger were pouring from my face as someone kept reminding me what God has done for me! Trust me, sometimes you simply don’t want to it, but God is giving you a way out of the sin you are about to enter. He stops to speak to you to let you know that He will deal with the situation, and in the meantime…pray for them! What? Are you seriously telling me to pray for someone who actively pursues to attack me? Are you telling me to be kind? Why, Father? And, He simply whispers, “That is what I do for you!” God knows there will be times in your life that anger will be present. He knows what anger can create when it goes unchecked. That is why He tells us in His word not to sin. When you are angry, stop and refocus on what God says! Remember what He has done for you! And, remember who is watching you in your times of anger. Is that an example you want to set? GBY and I love you all! Have a good one!
