My family and I had the honor and priviledge of being invited to attend the YMCA Black Achievers 39th Annual Awards Celebration! The amount of exceptional young achievers that were being honored that night were simply extraordinary! The Chestnut Street Family YMCA Black Achievers Program has been around for nearly four decades providing a positive impact on Louisville's youth! They allow them to have hope for their future by guiding and mentoring them to achieve their academic and leadership goals. We were able to devour a very delicious meal (with dessert!) while having the pleasure of listening to the amazing accomplisments of the keynote speaker, Col. Annoinette Gant. The message that we recieved from her was empowering! She had overcame the challenges and obstacles that her critics said that she couldn't. Her journey encouraged, not only myself, but the young achievers that worked so digliently to overcome their hardships.

The delicious meal!

Before I had the priviledge to attend this celebration I was not familiar with this program. I am highly grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this prestigious awards ceremony. It has opened up so many potential opportunities for my own children! They help the youth gain access to college scholarships and grants, which in turns helps the parents with college tuition. My only regret is not knowing of this program when I was a young adult!

My family!
