The Good, The Bad, And It's Mine!

Today is my birthday, and as I reflect on the 35 years that I have been blessed to live on this earth, I realize how God has walked with me through some seriously awesome times and some seriously tough times! I am an adventurous person, and I am always seeking the next adventure and who I would like to be by my side through that adventure. I’m not one to sit around (not a home body at all). I was just thinking about what the next adventure was going to be when I was rewarded with the memories of previous adventures! As a child I was introduced to traveling by my Sweetheart! We would take journeys together every chance we could get (with my awesome brother as well)! I remember those times where, during our night drive up and down the California freeways, I loved how the moon shined so brightly, and how I always thought it was following us. We had gotten our first family vehicle, and it was the BEST Pinto E-V-E-R!! Hands down the best memories where in that little blue Pinto! It allowed us to have freedom to go as we pleased, and to see sights that we weren’t able to see on the bus line. Beach days and movie days were my favorite, and they still are!

Aww...beach days!!

Yes I seriously thought the moon was following us!

We took our great journey to Kentucky shortly after my tenth birthday. I recall after merely three short days of begging my Sweetheart to take us back to California! It was a total culture shock! As I grew up, life wasn’t exactly what I would call easy. Teenage years were nearly unbearable. I drowned myself in sports, because during that time it was the only thing that would keep me sane. I played just about everything that I could dip my fingers into, including basketball, softball, track and field, soccer, and I even tried out for the football team (mom quickly said no to that one). Life only got harder as I went to college. I didn’t seem to think life was worth living in college. I was very self-destructive, but God, soccer, and a few really awesome friends were the ones that kept me afloat. Yes, God! HE is the one that has walked with me through my entire life’s journey!

I shortly got married within my third year of college, and moved to Virginia to begin my new life with my military man, and newly born son! The first years were definitely a struggle. Living with someone you aren’t used to living with and taking care of another human that consistently needs you could wear a girl thin. A few years later two more children came along, and a few more after that our marriage quickly disappeared. Now, back in Kentucky, and with my newfound self, I love my life. I don’t exactly love everything that happens within my life, but life itself is definitely a gift! And, as long as I have breath on this earth…I know that God still has a purpose for me to complete! I get to see my kids grow up and learn. I get to have quality time with my family, and be loved on by my awesome friends! When I finally got to know myself again I was able to: travel with my family, learn how to drive a stick shift, go zip-lining, go sky diving, shoot guns, laugh at myself, care about others, do the sling shot ride at King’s Island, go on a helicopter ride, learn how to drive a motorcycle, and plenty of other amazing things! I get to live a life full of blessings and riches (not money) that some people would never be able to see or do. I get to live, and I choose to live! Life is good, because God is good! Happy Birthday to ME! GBY and love you!

Me at the gun range!
