The Wild And Crazy Ride!

Have you ever just wanted to do something wild and crazy, and you just never had the chance to do it? When I was in my late teens I had a list of things that I wanted to do and see when I got older. So far I have accomplished a good portion of that list, and it is time to create a new one. Well, one day I decided I was going to go for the craziest thing that was on my list. I made up my mind that was going skydiving...on my birthday!

I found an adventure partner who was willing to go 'jump out of a perfectly good airplane' with me! We bought the groupon and set a date! We were so anxious for that day to arrive! As the time grew nearer I was full of adrenaline, and pumped that I actually made arrangements to achieve a personal goal of mine! I told everyone! You can imagine the lovely comments that I received. Most people were excited for me, others thought I was nuts (well, I sort of am), and then you had the naysayers. When you go to achieve a goal in life make sure you do not allow the naysayers to get you down. Love that person, but throw that message away!

The night before the jump I had two dreams. In the first dream, I was in the airplane, and it was my time to jump. Fear started to really creep in, and I didn't want to jump. The people in the airplane encouraged me to jump, and I hyped myself up so much that I jumped out of the plane...without the parachute! I was so afraid as I fell down to my death that I woke up. As I lie there in bed I was in shock and in fear. The Lord told me to turn to Isaiah 40:10,13. I had not read those verses before. I quickly picked up my Bible and turned to Isaiah and read, "(10) Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strenghten you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (13) For I, the Lord your God, will hold your hand, saying to your , fear not, I will help you". This verse is now my go-to life verse!

My second dream was exactly the same, and I thought to myself 'you didn't learn the first time?' But, this time it was different. As I was quickly descending, dove wings kept me afloat, and the peace of God overcame me! I knew that I was going to live. The day came for the jump, and I told myself that I wouldn't call my adventure partner, but that she had to call me. Fear was still nagging me (it has a way of doing that..you just have to remember who that comes from). Then that phone call came, and my adventure buddy told me that she was on her way to pick me up. I put my brave (prideful) voice on, and said, "Let's do this thing!"

We arrived at Skydive Kentucky at the appointed time, and we were both so excited! The legal video and the papers that we had to sign almost made us turn around and walk back out of the door. That was the only part of the whole experience that we did not like. The wording on the paper work was a little sketchy, but we decided to go anyways. We got geared up and met our tandem partners! They were both named Mike, but my Mike was totally awesome! He made the whole experience so much better! The safety procedures and landing instructions were easy to remember, and our Mikes made sure that we were safely strapped in and ready for take off!

(My Mike!)

Finally, we were up in the sky and it was time to jump! The best part of all of this was that I was not the least bit afraid or worried. I knew that my God was in full on protection mode! We Jumped, and it was the best feeling EVER! For at least 30 seconds we were free falling from the airplane, and then...I pulled the cord! The parachute and all its amazing colors opened up! The view from up there is so amazing! Mike told me to pull the left cord down, and it spun us around really fast...awesome!!! Then we did the right side! It was time to land, and all the instructions that were given to us prior the jump came racing back to my mind. I lifted up my legs and let Mike slide in first! I lie there laughing my heart out! It was so amazing! There was so much adrenaline racing through my body! We did it! We did it! And, it was one of the best times that I have ever had!

So, if you are looking for something to do that is wild and crazy, go take a dive at Skydive Kentucky! It was truly a great experience! When God makes a promise, He is faithful in completing it! GBY and I love you all!

(Yup...that's me! Goal Accomplished!)
